What it covers

Animation extends beyond narrative into experimental realms where practitioners treat each frame as a material moment within the broader fabric of movement and time. This course encourages you to explore these relationships through creating short, innovative animated works using diverse animation processes. Through workshops and projects, you'll gain experience in both traditional and contemporary animation technologies across digital and analogue spaces. The course presents a range of animation concepts and methodologies relevant to your creative practice. You'll be encouraged to think critically, experiment, and push animation's boundaries while developing proficiency in various processes. You'll also engage with experimental animation's rich history as a temporal creative practice, examining its place within contemporary art and broader cultural contexts. This course introduces key RMIT capabilities and sets the foundation for a continuum of professional skills for use in creative industries. This course is part of the Major: Expanded Media Arts.
