What it covers

In this studio-based course, you will establish a more substantial, independent painting practice. You will explore the language of materials to develop forms and processes that expand, transform and deepen your approach to painting. You will further develop knowledge and experience in the range of specialised methods of production to make informed choices about the appropriate concepts, materials, process and technologies for your art practice and ways in which they may be presented to the viewer. You will build on your practice-led research, synthesising and applying new information to develop concepts and processes for making paintings. In this course you will produce a resolved body of work and appropriate support materials and research that establishes the social and cultural framework for your work. You will explore the relationship between studio and exhibition, testing how the site of installation can further develop the work. This course includes a simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience where you will plan and deliver a site-specific exhibition considering - not only the aesthetic and spatial attributes of your work in public - but also the safety, logistical, and promotional requirements of such an activity. This course is part of the Major: 2D Studio Practices.
