What it covers
This unit introduces students to the important intersection between sport and sustainability. Using The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO's) Kazan Action Plan as a framework, students will understand the importance of sport in contributing to 10 of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) globally. The work of a variety of different global organisations using sport to contribute to the SDGs will also be outlined. Students will also learn about sports' reliance on a healthy environment and how climate change may challenge this relationship in the future.
